Well, July to December…… time really flies quick! Sorry for the lack of updates on the website as it has been a crazy last few months at the clubhouse for us as we are trying to manage some new processes with our officers to better organize our ideas and issues. But anyway, here is a little recap on what’s been going on with Black Swamp Gamers, a “year in review” so to speak...
- August, September, October, November - Public Game days - We have seen a slight increase in attendance to these functions and we are extremely grateful for everyone who has come out to game with us! It’s always a pleasure when we see a new face with a new game. For our travel themed day, we got to play games like Concordia and Ticket to Ride while we talked about where we went over the summer with our families. On our Halloween themed day, we finally got to see Fury of Dracula to the table and played the new Edgar Allen Poe game "Masque of The Red Death". In November, we relaxed with a few cold drinks and played our party favorites like "Curses" and "The Walking Dead". Coming up in December, we will be having our Cookie Sale on the 21st to help raise money for the club then just casual gaming that Saturday.
- Oddmall Convention, Glass City Con, Game Room Demo Day – This year BSG took part in more local event to try and get the club a little more exposure. We had table space at both events in which our officers brought some of their favorite games to share with anyone who wanted to sit down and play. The highlight was Game Room Demo Day as it is literally one full day of anything board games at a local retail shop in Toledo. Matt, Anthony, and Kyle had 3 tables set up and handed out ticket to people who played our games then they could turn the tickets in for a chance to win hourly prizes. Met lots of interested people who felt our club was a great way to help grow the table top gaming community.
- International Gaming Week with Waterville Public Library – This year, we have done 2 outreach events at the local Waterville Branch Library to help spread the word about table top gaming. Both events happened to fall on “international gaming” days. The officers were able to bring games to the table that we considered to be “gateway” games like Munchkin and Ticket to Ride. We also were able to get children involved as well with games like Animal Upon Animal and Junk Art (dexterity games that were visually appealing and easy to understand).
- The best is yet to come – One of the hardest things the club has to face every month is the possibility that we may have to close our doors. It’s a sad but true reality that we are trying to take head on to ensure that everyone one of our members has a great experience with BSG. With that, we will be looking at better way over the next few months to make sure our paid members are REALLY getting their moneys worth. We also plan to start an incentive points system to help bring in more members by provide discounts to already paid members for any new person they can bring to the club. In the long run, these new members will in turn help us reach our larger club goals like the possibility of getting larger gaming space, more games for the shelves, and better refreshment options. Every person counts, and we want to make sure you continue to enjoy your time with us.
If you have ANY questions at all about the club or our events, please feel free to reach out to us through email firstname.lastname@example.org check us out on our facebook page
