Good Afternoon all! As always, sorry for the late updates to our website blog. We are still trying to come up with a better way to post in one place that will update both our Facebook and website in 1 action. Someday we'll come up with a good solution so we thank you for your continued visits.
We have been rolling smoothly through the months and we're excited for whats coming up. We had some great turn out in January for our Birthday Party public day. We also have started a new rewards system in February that seems to have taken off a bit more which is nice. Rewarding our paying members with a chance to pick a free unopened game I feel is a great way to help keep our members returning more often to try out different games with us. Our Scrabble Sundays have also seemed to pick up more traction
Coming up in April & May we have some new public day themes we are excited to reveal so PLEASE be sure to check out our facebook for when those events are posted!
ALSO, June 1st will make the club's 2nd year being in Peddler's Alley in Waterville and we wanted to make the occasion with a special raffle to help show our appreciation to our members can community. The club will be selling raffle tickets for a chance to win a copy of GLOOMHAVEN!!! They will be going on sale beginning of April and our goal is sell at least 100 tickets. They will be $5 per ticket or $20 for 5 tickets. Gloomhaven has been ranked #1 on boardgamegeek.com for about a year now and this game is valued at $100!! We are also raffling off a 1yr free basic membership, also valued at $100. All ticket purchased go directly to keep the club running.
Thats all for now folks. Come up to the club and visit us sometime, we love playing new games and seeing new faces. Thank you for your continued support and Happy Gaming!!
Well, July to December…… time really flies quick! Sorry for the lack of updates on the website as it has been a crazy last few months at the clubhouse for us as we are trying to manage some new processes with our officers to better organize our ideas and issues. But anyway, here is a little recap on what’s been going on with Black Swamp Gamers, a “year in review” so to speak...
- August, September, October, November - Public Game days - We have seen a slight increase in attendance to these functions and we are extremely grateful for everyone who has come out to game with us! It’s always a pleasure when we see a new face with a new game. For our travel themed day, we got to play games like Concordia and Ticket to Ride while we talked about where we went over the summer with our families. On our Halloween themed day, we finally got to see Fury of Dracula to the table and played the new Edgar Allen Poe game "Masque of The Red Death". In November, we relaxed with a few cold drinks and played our party favorites like "Curses" and "The Walking Dead". Coming up in December, we will be having our Cookie Sale on the 21st to help raise money for the club then just casual gaming that Saturday.
- Oddmall Convention, Glass City Con, Game Room Demo Day – This year BSG took part in more local event to try and get the club a little more exposure. We had table space at both events in which our officers brought some of their favorite games to share with anyone who wanted to sit down and play. The highlight was Game Room Demo Day as it is literally one full day of anything board games at a local retail shop in Toledo. Matt, Anthony, and Kyle had 3 tables set up and handed out ticket to people who played our games then they could turn the tickets in for a chance to win hourly prizes. Met lots of interested people who felt our club was a great way to help grow the table top gaming community.
- International Gaming Week with Waterville Public Library – This year, we have done 2 outreach events at the local Waterville Branch Library to help spread the word about table top gaming. Both events happened to fall on “international gaming” days. The officers were able to bring games to the table that we considered to be “gateway” games like Munchkin and Ticket to Ride. We also were able to get children involved as well with games like Animal Upon Animal and Junk Art (dexterity games that were visually appealing and easy to understand).
- The best is yet to come – One of the hardest things the club has to face every month is the possibility that we may have to close our doors. It’s a sad but true reality that we are trying to take head on to ensure that everyone one of our members has a great experience with BSG. With that, we will be looking at better way over the next few months to make sure our paid members are REALLY getting their moneys worth. We also plan to start an incentive points system to help bring in more members by provide discounts to already paid members for any new person they can bring to the club. In the long run, these new members will in turn help us reach our larger club goals like the possibility of getting larger gaming space, more games for the shelves, and better refreshment options. Every person counts, and we want to make sure you continue to enjoy your time with us.
If you have ANY questions at all about the club or our events, please feel free to reach out to us through email firstname.lastname@example.org check us out on our facebook page
https://www.facebook.com/BlackSwampGamers and Thank you again for your support!
Happy Holidays from all of us at BSG and as always, Happy Gaming!!
Good Afternoon Gamers! Thank you for coming back to see what we have been up to. July has been a great month for the club. We got to see some new faces at your Co-op public game day and played Buffy, Elder Sign, and Letters From Whitechapel. We received some great feedback from our guests. BSG is also now on an app called "GameFor" that we recommend to all our guests, if you are just looking for ANY games going on in the area, its a great resource to find people. Many of our recent guests came from that app and from some pretty far distances just to play so we are excited to see who else is willing to join us in the future.
Our next game day should be a good one as well - Travel Themed! Come up to the club and play a game that you bought this summer, tell us about your adventures using a game like Trekking The National Parks, or where you went with King of Tokyo, or how you go there with Ticket to Ride. We would love to hear your stories and get to meet/know you better! See the details in the flyer below.
We ALSO have a fun new Sunday even coming up August 5th, SCRABBLE SUNDAYS where we are only playing competitive games of Scrabble. This event is also free to the public. We can always use more players for we hope to see you out for that. Game play starts at 12Noon and ends around 3PM.
As Always, Happy Gaming All!!
Good Afternoon everyone! Sorry for the delay in posting to the website. It has been quite a busy few months for us at the club and now finally have some time to play catch up. In May, we were able to renew out lease with the space we are in so that was big. We made it through the first year!! We also gained a new officer to the club, Kyle who will be our Lead Events Coordinator. He will be tasked to come up with more Saturday events for the club to run while also looking into getting our club name out there more by registering for local area conventions. In June, some of our members were able to experience Origins Game Fair in Columbus, OH. The club now has some new games to play from the convention like Star Trek Ascendancy, Tiny Epic Galaxies Expansion, and many more!! June also we enjoyed our themed Saturday on the 23rd which was worker placement games. We played Dice City, Stone Age, and a few more while we had guests.
Coming up in July, we thought it would be nice to go with another growing category, Co-op games!!!
We also plan to have a Scrabble Sunday planned again as there has been some interest growing for it. Plan for that on July 8th from 12Noon to 3PM. This is also a public event so no membership is needed.
If you would like to make a donation to the club, you can now easily do so with the donate button to the right of this post. All contributions go directly toward helping the club with getting new games, refilling our drink and snack bar, etc. Thank you in advance for helping!!
Good Morning All, sorry for the delay on getting this posted. Just a reminder that summer is right around the corner so that will come with some weekday gaming becoming available. We will still do our Friday (6pm-10PM), Saturday (1PM-10PM), and Sunday (5PM-8PM) along with a few more days in the week when there isn't a D&D session going on. Be on the look out for those posts coming soon :) For the rest of May, we have a few more events going on that we would like to share!
May 19th 3PM - Old School Gaming will be having their free board game day. head on up to their shop across the street from TGIFridays on Airport to play any games they have on their demo shelves or one that you would like to share with others.
May 26th -1PM - The clubhouse will be open for our public theme day for this month, looking to play games that have a "spring" season theme to them. Arboretum, Photosynthesis, Lotus, and others will be at the table. We will have snacks and drink for free to hand out as well. Bring friends and family and see what the club is all about!
Lastly, to round out an amazing year at the clubhouse, we will be holding out bi-annual members meeting for ALL PAYING members. We will discuss whats been happening within the club, our funds, our officer changes, and most importantly, getting your feedback on how we can make this next year even better. PLEASE try to join us for this meeting on THURSDAY May 24th starting at 6:30PM.
As always, Happy Gaming All :)
Good Evening everyone! There is lots to talk about for the month of April so lets hop right into it:
See you all soon and Happy Gaming!!
Join BSG in raising money for Food for Thought to help hungry families in our community!
Bring your family or friends for an evening of board games for a good cause! Donate to play.
Food For Thought provides groceries and fresh fruits and vegetables for more than 450 families each month in low-income neighborhoods across the region. They also make more than 15,000 PB&J lunches each year and distribute them downtown every Saturday morning.
Can’t attend? You can make a gift to Food For Thought here: https://secure.lglforms.com/form_engine/s/i6royqi3XRTC_CQraJKa9A
Why is March Hungry? After end-of-year giving, winter is still in full swing and pantry supplies start to dwindle. Families in our community experience the harsh reality of hunger and food insecurity at all times of the year. You can make sure that putting food on the table is one less worry for our neighbors in need. Learn more: https://feedtoledo.org/
Can't donate cash? We will also be collecting supplies for Food for Thought's weekly lunch pack nights.
List of PB&J Supplies:
Because our volunteer numbers fluctuate, we like to have both individually bagged items (chips, goldfish, cookies), and larger items that we can break down into smaller portions (bulk or family sized items). We ask that all items be shelf stable due to cold storage limitations.
Chips (corn or potato or veggie, plain), Pretzels, Popcorn (already popped)
Fruit Snacks, Dried Fruit
Plastic Sandwich Bags (Zip-Closure)
Cases of Bottled Water
Paper Lunch Bags (Standard, Not Large Size)
Creamy Peanut Butter
Fruit Jellies & Jams
Loaves of Sliced Bread (White, Wheat)
Good Afternoon all and sorry for such a long time between posts. I just wanted to reach out to everyone and let you all know that we are still here and kicking. We have a pretty busy holiday season and flew through January with 1 public day. We hosted a birthday get-together for our Vice President which was a big success.
Coming up in February, we plan to have a Valentine's Day themed day on Saturday the 17th. This is a public event so anyone is welcome to join us. An officer will be there to open the doors at 1PM. We hope to have more planned days coming up here in the future as soon as we get our bearings straight as we are looking at bring on some new officer positions to help us better organize our Online/Internet presence.
Our hours also recently changed where we are no long hosting a Monday game day but have opened up EVERY Saturday for for members now so we are gaming all weekend long! For more details, please reach out to us.
Hope you all are doing great and got some fun games over the holiday. Stay warm and come see us sometime soon and as always, Happy Gaming!!

First off before I forget, Happy Holidays all!! We have some exciting new events coming up this month at the clubhouse.
We are having a Cookie Sale Dec 15th and 16th to help raise more money for the club. Any donations help with keeping our doors opens longer and also helps with club facility improvements.
Customers will be able to purchase cookies by the pound while supplies last.
To end the year with a bang, we are hosting an open public event for all friends, family, and fans of Black Swamp Gamers with a Party Game themed day. We wanted to throw an early party, have a few drinks, and play some fun group games like the ones listed in the flyer. If you would like to bring something to drink (alcoholic or not), you're more than welcome to but the club isn't allowed to sell any alcohol as we do not have a liquor license to do so. We are also not allowed to leave the club doors with any open containers either.
This should be one awesome event so be sure to clear your calendars and bring your friends!!
Good Afternoon all! Just wanted to update everyone on a few upcoming events and some ideas we wanted to share after some great feedback from last nights Members Meeting.
-- Don't forget we have Thursdays up at Old School Gaming (open to everyone, need not be a member of BSG). The more the merrier!! You're club membership also gives you an extra 5% off discount when you buy games up there!
-- We are going to start OPENING EVERY SATURDAY for members while still picking 1 Saturday a month for a Themed Public event. We still plan to join Old School Gaming for their 1 Saturday a month days as well so be on the lookout for those posts on our Facebook page. Most likely Saturdays will start around 12/1PM and run into the evening. Anthony will personally be opening the doors for the first few weeks while we get the schedule worked out with the other officers.
-- CHRISTMAS IS UPON US!! To help sweetn' your holiday, will be doing a "Cookie Walk" to help raise money for the club. Details on this to come but I'm sure it will be a weekend before Christmas Day. Walk in and buy bulk cookies for your family!
-- Reminder that if you are looking for Christmas Gifts, we do have 2 games up for RAFFLE still this month (Sushi Go and Biblios) and we currently only have 4 entries into the drawing so we can't draw a winner yet!!. We might possibly push these 2 into a 3-pack raffle opportunity for December so what better gift to give than a free game, right?? Also be on the look out for other raffle opportunities like "Free 1 month Memberships" or "Free Snack Vouchers" in the coming months.
-- WHITE ELEPHANT CHRISTMAS GIFT EXCHANGE (Members Only)- So something we wanted to do this year for the holiday was to do a gift exchange for all us friends up at the club DEC 23rd. We would like to start it around 4PM and members are welcome to participate. All you have to do is show up with a gift (up to $20 in value) that is NOT a board game. If its an accessory like a dice tower or something, those are acceptable just not a full fledged game, we have plenty of those, haha. When your turn comes up, you can choose to steal an already opened gift or open a new one. Gifts can only be stolen twice before they are considered dead and can't be stolen again. Please, NO "Adult" gifts (although bottle of wine are acceptable).
-- We are going to start a REFERRAL SYSTEM in the coming weeks to help boost membership numbers. Simply put, if you get a friend to sign up for year, you will receive money off on your next membership payment. Details to come once the officers have a chance to get together and hash those out. System should be implemented by Dec 15th.
I think that's all I have to report for now. Its a lot to review but all very good ideas and a good way to give that club that 2nd wind heading into the next 6 months in Peddlers Alley. Hope to see you all out soon and as always..... Happy Gaming ;)
